What is the service life of FRP pultrusion profiles?

FRP pultrusion profiles are made of fiberglass and resin by pultrusion. Firstly, the quality of materials will determine the performance of pultrusion profiles. Secondly, in order to meet the needs of fire protection, some modified additives will be added to the pultrusion profiles to enhance the corresponding performance. There are also glass fibers, including long fibers and short cut fibers. Generally, pultruded profiles use long fibers, but some products are filled with short fibers. The proportion of fiber and resin also affects the performance of FRP pultrusion profiles. Therefore, it depends on the service life of pultruded profiles and the product and its service conditions. For example, fiberglass guardrails are used in roads or gardens, and fiberglass anti-corrosion roof panels are used in textile workshops and garbage storage pits in garbage power plants. However, compared with short glass fiber extruded products, PVC products and metal products, FRP pultrusion profiles have longer service life. Generally, it can last up to 15 years. If it is buried underground, it can last up to 50 years.
Performance characteristics of FRP pipes
Properties of FRP pipes (1) Corrosion resistance: chemically inert material, excellent corrosion resistance, and different corrosion resistant pipes can be selected according to the transmission medium. (2) High mechanical strength: water pressure resistance, external pressure resistance and impact resistance are good, and pipes and fittings can be designed and manufactured according to the required pressure. (3) Strong temperature adaptability: the operating temperature range is more than - 70 ℃ but less than 250 ℃, and the pipeline will not crack under the frozen medium. (4) Small fluid resistance: the inner wall of the pipe is smooth, with a roughness coefficient of 0.0084. Under the same flow rate, the pipe diameter can be reduced. (5) Light weight, long service life: light weight, convenient transportation, low construction cost, no maintenance, service life of more than 50 years. (6) Maintain water quality: non-toxic, transport drinking water, can maintain long-term water quality and sanitation.
What are the connection methods of FRP pipes
1. Wrapping and docking: this street form is to align two pipes, and then wrap them with reinforcement materials (glass cloth, felt or felt plus roving) of different sizes saturated with resin to appropriate thickness and width. This kind of joint has good sealing performance and can withstand large internal pressure. It is usually used to connect straight pipes, elbows, tees and reducers. 2. Flared socket connection: The design of this joint is varied. One end of the pipe is usually made into a bell jar type flaring, and the next connecting pipe is inserted into it. It is usually sealed with a round (or other shape) rubber gasket, so this method is sometimes called an "O-ring" joint. 3. Casing connection: the sleeve with a diameter slightly larger than the pipe diameter is used. The inner surface is coated with mastic, and the outer ends of two FRP pipes are also coated with mastic. Then two FRP pipes are inserted into the sleeve, and the mastic can be used after solidification. 4. Hose connector: this connector is just a rubber sleeve which is sleeved at the joint of two pipes. Both ends of the sleeve are clamped with stainless steel tape and fastened with screws.
